National Public School, Yeshwanthpur hosted the inter-school Debate Competition 'DEBATTLE 2016' on Wednesday, 24th Aug 2016.The event saw 10 schools from across the city participate. With its aim of 'Make them aware' the event succeeded in igniting the passion in the denizens as they understood the vulnerability of social media, the repercussions and the possible solutions to avert being susceptible.
Ms Alka Gupta, Principal National Public School, Yeshwanthpur welcomed the participants and the esteemed panel of judges and declared the event open. She urged the participants to retain the true spirit of debaters as they voice their views. Mr Jason SS, Ms Usha Murthy NK and Ms Sarala Dhanraj, stalwarts in the field of education, were part of the judgement panel.
The issues raised at DEBATTLE 2016 ranged from usage of social media, causes of vulnerability and possible solutions. It was an eye-opener with the students lending their expression on the burning issue and bringing into focus their maturity beyond the years. This was also an opportunity for the eloquently poised students to voice their opinions in the Rebuttal and Question Round by the judges.
The speaker who made an impact with her thoughts and eloquence, Gagana S of NPS, Rajajinagar secured the coveted Best Speaker Award. Anushka Subramanianof NPS, Bananshankari left an indelible impression on the panel and walked away with the Runner Up Award.
The coordinated team effort and views ensured NPS, Banashankari emerge as the Best Debating Team closely followed by NPS, Koramangala who were awarded the Runner up Trophy for DEBATTLE 2016.
The event ended on a high note with the students getting a platform to freely air and share their views on social media
