Celebration of 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi
Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation always stood by his values and principles which are most
essential even in the present-day context. Gandhi Jayanthi is celebrated on 2nd October. This day is also
celebrated as the International Day of Non-Violence as Gandhiji preached non-violence.
In honouring the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, various activities were undertaken from
2nd October 2019. However, inspite of the perplexed and challenging times due to pandemic
situation, National Public School, Yeshwanthpur had conducted an array of activities for the students
on virtual platform to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
September 2019
The pre-primary students were motivated to take part in a campaign which focused on
judicious usage of water to save it for future generation and prevent diseases. The campaign
was dedicated to raise awareness about Gandhiji’s idea of sanitation and cleanliness.
October 2019
Students had contributed paintings & essays based on the life of Gandhiji. They also participated in
various competitions held by CBSE.
Road Rally :
In collaboration with Heart Care Foundation, Class 7 students actively participated in a
2 kms walk enthusiastically and cleared the plastic waste in their surroundings,
spreading awareness about fitness and protection of the environment in this chain
movement originating from an individual moving on to the society and thereby
culminating with the nation.

Shramdaan :
Class 12 students served food to school attenders and bus drivers in following the
Gandhian values of dignity of labour.
February 2020
Swachh Bharat :
Class 5 & 6 students cleaned the school campus emphasising the mission of Swachh
Bharat and dignity of labour.
July 2020
The Power Point Presentation by students of class 10 depicted Gandhiji’s extraordinary
qualities such as serving the society, selflessness, charity, honesty, truthfulness, non - violence, patriotism & compassion towards the downtrodden.
August 2020

Class 9 students celebrated International Day of Peace stressing the importance of
Gandhiji’s ideologies for a peaceful nation.
October 2020
The primary students in their class assembly paid tribute to The Father of the nation
and sung his favourite bhajan 'Vaishnava Janato'.
The students of Class 5 presented their assembly to mark the birth anniversary of the
Mahatma Gandhiji.
A Social Science teacher addressed the students on the Gandhian values and
philosophy.
Thus, Gandhiji helped in popularising the notion of “Be the change you want to see”.
His principles of non-violence, truth and dignity of all people regardless of caste, class
or community are encapsulated in the concept of Satyagraha. And if his experiments
and creative search can be illuminated by the category of design, it could undoubtedly
be allied with Gandhiji’s character. Thus, in the 20th Century, the creative skills are the
best way of safeguarding and following his notions.
